THE VINEYARD
Truly great wine results from a partnership between the land and the people who nurture it. At Helen’s Hill Estate our 100% family owned vineyard and winery carefully balances traditional values and modern efficiency to make exceptional cool climate wines.

The site which we now called Helen’s Hill was up until 1996 unkempt pasture land that had pretty much been neglected for many years. After extensive soil testing, consideration of prevailing aspects and micro climates the family purchased the vacant 150 acres and embarked on transforming the land into one of Yarra Valley’s finest vineyards.

The vineyard is located well above the valley floor on the Southern Ranges of the Yarra Valley some 140 metres above sea level. It is a long (2.5 km) and relatively skinny (0.8 km) block that has a number of hills running across the property.

It is these hills that provide the different soil types and micro climates that allow us to match the “terroir” conditions to the different varieties of wine grapes that we grow.

Planting wine grape vines in their right “terroir” location is not only the first step, it is singularly the most important step in growing great fruit and ultimately great wine. Judging by the success of our wines we feel confident that we are on, pardon the pun, solid ground.

At Helen’s Hill we are committed to ensuring your experience is fun and memorable. Our cellar door is a place where we can show off the wines we are so very proud of and a space in which we can get to know our customers on a personal level. Whether you just want to have a bit of fun trying some wine with friends, or whether you want to have a structured tasting and learn all about how we make our wine, our friendly and knowledgeable staff will look after you.

Nestled at the bottom of the hill and opened in 2006 as part of our state of the art winery complex our unique cellar door offers floor to ceiling views of the winery and barrel hall where you can see all the action! Try the whole range of Helen’s Hill and Ingram Rd wines or just pick out a few of your favourites, the choice is yours.

THE WINE DECK
After you have tried all our wines, and met our friendly staff, you may like to order a glass of your favourite wine from the tasting to savour and The Wine Deck at Helen’s Hill is the perfect platform to enjoy it on.

Overlooking the beautiful bushland and gardens with the vines in the background, The Wine Deck is a place where families can enjoy relaxing time together with plenty of fun activities for the kids to enjoy.

Boasting a delicious menu of casual style food with a focus on local produce, The Wine Deck at Helen’s Hill has the best seats in the house!
