About

ABOUT US Founder and winemaker Ken King planted the vineyard in 1990, selecting the early ripening Burgundy varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The vines are vigorous but kept in balance by dry growing techniques and careful hand pruning each year onto a single fruiting wire. Contrary to conventional wisdom, the vineyard is planted on a south slope to deliberately delay the ripening of the fruit, which enables full varietal flavours to develop. Our vines are hand pruned and hand picked, they are part of the family so we should treat them with care. All wines are made on site in our winery so the grapes can be harvested at the optimal time and immediately processed. We believe in capturing the moment when the grapes are at their peak and transferring that instant to the glass. We are a "vine to bottle" operation, managing the end to end wine making process in our own boutique winery. We also source quality fruit from other local growers in Kangaroo Ground, as well as selected parcels from other Victorian wine regions for our premium wines. In 2013, we were excited to establish a partnership with with a grower in Heathcote who will provide Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon for our super premium red wines. In 2014, there was another big step forward for our business as Chris Ramsay joined the team as co-owner and assistant winemaker. With Chris joining the KKG team, this will allow us to step up our production in both volume and quality.

Hours

BUSINESS HOURS As the Kangaroo Ground Post Office is co-located with our winery, you can buy wine any time the Post Office is open, Monday - Friday 9am - 5 pm. We also open our Cellar Door for tastings and sales every Saturday from 10am - 5pm, and the first Sunday of every month 12noon - 5pm. Wine tastings at other times are available by appointment.
